Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias presenta investigaciones en congreso mundial de fitopatología

El pasado mes de agosto se llevó a cabo en Honolulu, Hawái, el encuentro anual más importante en el ámbito de la fitopatología: el Annual Meeting of the American Phytopathological Society (Plant Health 2025). Este evento convoca a científicos de todo el mundo para intercambiar avances en salud vegetal, manejo de enfermedades y seguridad alimentaria.

La Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias de la Universidad de Talca, a través de su Laboratorio de Patología Frutal, tuvo una destacada participación representada por el Decano Gonzalo Díaz, el académico Mauricio Lolas, junto a las investigadoras Fernanda Núñez y Paulina González.

Durante el congreso, se presentaron seis investigaciones en formato póster, destacando los trabajos con participación de estudiantes del Doctorado en Ciencias Agrarias, Iqra Mubeeny Shehzad Iqbal (Pakistán), Yadira Hernández (Cuba), y colaboraciones con profesionalesinternacionales como el académico Akif Eskalen y la académica Karina Elfar, ambos de la Universidad de California, la Dra. Lisa keith (USA) y el académico Enrique Ferrada, de la Universidad Austral de Chile.

Los temas abordados incluyeron:

• Description of Diplodia mutila causing Botryosphaeria stem blight of highbushblueberry cv. Brigitta in the Maule Region, Central Chile.
• Susceptibility of grapevine pruning wounds to Neofusicoccum spp. obtained fromgrapevines and apples in the Maule Region, Chile.
• Identification and Pathogenicity of Fungal Trunk Pathogens Obtained from AirborneSpores in Commercial Vineyards in Central Chile.
• Occurrence of Truncatella angustata causing canker and branch dieback in Europeanhazelnut orchard in the Maule region, Chile.
• Pathogenicity of Botryosphaeriaceae and Diaporthe Species Associated with Cankerand Branch Dieback of English Walnut (Juglans regia) in Chile.
• Revealing presence of Botrytis sp. 1 and B. cinerea from the Fragaria-Botrytispathosystem in Chile.
